You can't check a clock and hold eye contact

Every speaker has the same problem: you need to know where you stand on time, but looking at a phone, a stopwatch, or a timer card breaks the moment you're trying to hold onto. ExtempReady solves it with a private channel a room can't see: your Apple Watch, tapping out checkpoints, pace warnings, and time limits directly on your wrist while you keep talking.

What it does

01

Discreet Haptic Cues

Your Apple Watch delivers a private tap at the halfway mark, your final minute, a pace warning, or when time's up, without a sound or a glance at the phone.

02

Presets for Every Format

Forensics and speech, debate, presentations, interview responses, auditions, podcasts, or a fully custom session, each with its own timing and checkpoints.

03

Live Delivery Coaching

Optional in-session feedback on pace, pauses, and volume, computed from your voice as you speak and fed back through the same private Watch taps.

04

Video Rehearsal

Record a full run-through with an on-screen timing overlay, then review it afterward. Recordings stay on your device and never touch iCloud backup.

05

Post-Session Report

A breakdown of pace, pauses, volume, and vocal variety after every rehearsal, so you can see what changed between one run and the next.

06

History & Trends

Track how your timing and delivery change across sessions, so practice turns into visible progress instead of a guess.

07

Your Call on Retention

Choose to keep just the numeric results, a transcript, or the full recording after each session, right down to results-only if that's all you want.

08

Works Without a Watch

Every feature runs fully on the iPhone alone. Pair an Apple Watch anytime to add the private haptic layer on top.

A note on competition use. Smartwatch and electronic-assistance rules vary by tournament and organization. ExtempReady is always suitable for practice, but confirm the rules before using it during a judged, tested, or competitive event.

Private by design

ExtempReady doesn't run on a server, doesn't require an account, and doesn't send your rehearsals anywhere unless you choose to share them.

Everything stays on the device, including backups. Presets, sessions, and analysis results are stored locally using Apple's on-device SwiftData storage. Saved rehearsal recordings are stored locally too, and both are explicitly excluded from iCloud device backup, not just from sync.

Most analysis never needs speech-to-text at all. Pace, pauses, volume, and vocal variety are measured directly from raw audio energy. The one feature that does need a transcript (filler-word detection) is not yet available, and when it ships it will use on-device-only speech recognition with no network fallback, ever.

The Watch and iPhone talk directly to each other. Haptic cues travel over Apple's device-to-device Watch connectivity, not through a ControlBytes server, because there isn't one.
