AVDoc

The system record for AV technicians. AVDoc turns what's in your head, and scattered across rack photos and text threads, into a real, structured record of every site you maintain.

Every AV company has the same problem

The person who really knows how a site is wired is the tech who installed it, and that knowledge usually lives in their head, not in a file anyone else can open. When they're out sick, move on, or a site changes hands, the record goes with them. ControlBytes has run into this on our own service calls often enough to start building the fix: AVDoc turns a technician's on-site knowledge into a record the whole company can rely on.

What it does

01

Site Takeover Wizard

Walk a new site from blank to fully documented in one guided flow: control system, network, racks, rooms, devices, issues, and access notes.

02

Visits & Time Tracking

Start a visit, work the ticket, end with a wrap-up. Every visit adds to the site's permanent history instead of disappearing into a memory or a text message.

03

Label Scanning

Point the camera at an equipment label and AVDoc reads the manufacturer, model, and serial number for you, then lets you confirm before it's saved.

04

Network Discovery

Scan the local network to see what's actually alive on-site, and match it against what's already documented, useful for spotting what changed since the last visit.

05

Voice Notes

Record a note hands-free while you're up a ladder or behind a rack. Transcription runs on the device, so it stays searchable without the audio ever leaving the phone.

06

Reports, Two Ways

Every report (system assessment, equipment inventory, visit report, issue report, site history) generates a client-safe version and a full technical version, so what you hand the customer and what your team keeps are never the same document.

07

Data Export & Import

Hand a site's complete record to another technician, on another phone, in one self-contained file, no account or sync service required.

08

Face ID Lock

Client sites, network details, and internal notes stay behind Face ID or a passcode.

Private by design

AVDoc doesn't run on a server, doesn't require an account, and doesn't send your documentation anywhere unless you choose to share it.

Everything stays on the device. Sites, rooms, racks, devices, photos, and voice notes are stored locally on the technician's phone. There is no ControlBytes cloud or backend for AVDoc to phone home to.

On-device processing only. Label scanning uses Apple's on-device Vision framework, and voice transcription uses Apple's on-device Speech recognition. Both process data on the phone itself, not on a remote server.

Sharing is always your call. Exporting a backup, importing a colleague's site, or sending a report only happens when you initiate it, through your own email, AirDrop, or the iOS share sheet.
